Mordheim Sign
I have been throwing around the idea of a Entrance to Mordheim, but haven’t come up with any extraordinary ideas. As I was looking at my modular fence for Mordheim, (and I will get back to creating that… I swear) I realized I could create a entrance that went along with that fence…
(Most images you see of the city walls around Mordheim are of huge stone walls, but those aren’t very useful for playing the game of Mordheim, so I’m using a fence. =])
So the first step of my Mordheim Entrance is to create a Mordheim Sign to welcome visitors to the City of the Damned.
Step 1.
First I created a set of planks to put my Mordheim Sign on. Then I printed out the Mordheim Image I have on the top of my Blog. (I had to do a little bit of fiddling to get the size perfect.)
Step 2.
I taped the piece of paper to the board and traced the lines as hard as I could with a pen.
Step 3.
Then I painted the sign with a thin layer of watered-down black paint. The lines became a little hard to read so I outlined it with a pen. (The draw back to this is that he ink will sometimes seep through layers that you put on top of the lines.)
Step 4.
Then I painted inside the lines with a “bleached bone” (off-white) color. I had to do a couple coats around the edges where the ink seeped through. I still have some weathering to do to it, but I’m very happy with the end result.
Now I have to figure out the rest of the Mordheim Entrance.

I enjoy working with balsa wood and have a fair selection of it in my garage so I was going to build a set of lightly detailed beam-work in the Cathedral. I guess I could go the extra distance and actually make it robust enough to support a cast plaster roof…that way I could build a removable roof in the future?
